The Cost of Starting Your Own Publishing Venture

There is actually very little cost to starting your own publishing venture like I did with Bear Media. There's virtually no overhead. However, one thing I miss is all those nice advances both big and small that kept me afloat for a whole lot of years. Now that I rarely send anything to my agent, I can no longer rely on advances. It's all about direct sales which eventually, will far exceed any advance I might get in the 2020s and beyond.
