Where Have all The Super Stars Gone?

Borrowing a little from Kristin Kathryn Rusch's recent Business Musings blog, "Stars (link provided below)," and a conversation I had recently with an old bud about fame, or the lack of it, I've come to the realization that true world-wide fame is a fairly elusive thing nowadays. Rather, you can still achieve fame as an independent podcaster maybe, or politician, or late night comedy host, but for certain, the former two are on the rise (especially with the political weaponization of federal law now instituted in the US), and the rise of the indie network society, but the latter is waning. Just like mainstream news personalities, network programming, movie stars, rockstars, and yes, the ten same authors you would be forced to buy at your local B&N whether you wanted to or not.
