When you switch to indie publishing from the traditional format, you essentially become a developer. You are creating and developing property that will continue to bring you a nice return every year. Say you have a short story that cost you $150 to publish, and you sell $15 worth of that short story per year. That's a ten percent return on investment. If you sell $30 worth of that short story, that's a 20 percent annual investment. The only thing that does better than that is Bitcoin (#btc). I have short stories that thus far have made me thousands. You wouldn't know it looking at the Amazon rank, but it's the slow and steady sales that rule the day.
